I’m coming up on my one-year anniversary at EverFi, which in start-up years is about 4.5 years (5 if you count the fact that we’re in DC).
When I started a year ago, I was employee #100 and eager for the opportunity to make a difference in a company that’s making a difference. One year later, I’m in awe of what we’ve accomplished in 2013: 135 employees across 25 states who’ve all (in one way or another) helped EverFi certify over 6,000,000 students in critical life skills.
I can attest first-hand that it’s an amazing journey, and I’m still looking for people – a LOT of them – who want to join us on this awesome ride.
We’re currently looking for nearly 30 new team members to fill critical roles in engineering, product management, K-12 schools activation, finance, operations, marketing and sales. And we’re not just hiring at our headquarters in Washington, DC; we’re looking for talented new team members in cities like New York, Boston, San Francisco, Dallas, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Oklahoma City. Montana looks like it’s on the horizon too!
Our team members not only share a great passion for education, but also for creating awesome technology, working collaboratively, having a healthy dose of fun and building an incredible company that will positively impact the lives of millions of people.
At EverFi, we go to great lengths to find team members that share our passion for building a next-generation education network that truly changes students’ lives. Among our ranks are serial entrepreneurs, former K-12 teachers and college professors, more than a dozen Teach for America and Peace Corps alums, authors, and doctors (of the academic kind of course).
We’re proud of the lengths that we go to find great people. Just a few months ago, we recently recruited a very talented marketer with fantastic creative agency experience to our team. Typically you might expect to find folks like this in DC, New York or San Francisco, but every now and then you find a real gem in Morocco. Lauren Bernstein was in the midst of completing her second year in the Peace Corps working in a small town outside Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. Not only did Lauren complete three successful rounds of interviews over Skype, she also took her first office tour and met the rest of the team through an online video chat – all from 3,800 miles away.
And because we believe fantastic employees are inspired by great collaboration spaces, we’re getting ready to move our headquarters to a fresh new space in Georgetown. With twice the floor space, a much-anticipated “Zen Room,” a cavernous team hang-space and patio that overlooks the Potomac River and Roosevelt Island, our team is fired up for the big move. Stay tuned for more details.
Does empowering America’s next generation of students with the critical skills they need to be successful in life sound like a mission you’d like to help expand? As the saying goes, we’re looking for a few good (engaging, passionate, committed, and fun) folks to join our Fi-mily. Find out more about careers at the ‘Fi.
