EverFi Partners with Digital Learning Day to Promote Use of Innovative Technology in the Classroom
The partnership is a natural fit as EverFi’s digital learning programs are used by educators to help students develop critical life skills in more than 5,000 K-12 schools and higher education institutions. EverFi’s learning platforms are focused on needed skills such as financial literacy, digital citizenship and cyberbullying prevention, civic education, student loan management, and health and wellness. Each platform leverages adaptive and engaging technologies including 3D gaming, simulation, social networking, and virtual worlds.
“It’s because of the passion and commitment of educators around the country that we’re able to bring our platform to the classroom,” said Tom Davidson, EverFi Chief Executive Officer. “They are the driving force behind the expansion of digital learning, and a major reason why we’ve certified over 4.5 million students in the critical skills they need to be successful in life.”
“In my first 18 years of teaching, I used very traditional methods of instruction, but as a business and computer skills teacher, I had no choice but to embrace digital learning,” said Joy Munsey, a teacher at Holston High School in Damascus, VA. “The benefits to my students are immeasurable. I use the EverFi curriculum, activities on the Federal Reserve Bank website, and news clips on NBCLearn.com. Utilizing technology in the classroom makes the curriculum more relevant to teenagers – and brings a whole new level of interest and engagement to class discussions.”
In addition to working directly with over 400 colleges and universities, EverFi partners with hundreds of private sector companies and foundations to sponsor the use of EverFi’s learning platforms in K-12 schools, helping educators get the best resources at no cost to the school, district, or state. Some of the world’s largest brands and organizations have joined the EverFi mission including Burger King, JPMorgan Chase, BBVA Compass, Capital One, Genworth Financial, Neustar, PepsiCo, the John Calipari Family Foundation, and Comcast.
The Digital Learning Day campaign culminates in a national celebration in Washington, D.C. on February 6 at the Newseum, where teachers and education leaders will gather to showcase some of the creative ways teachers are using technology to help reinvigorate the classroom. Arne Duncan, U.S Secretary of Education, and Todd Park, Chief Technology Officer for the White House will be in attendance to speak about the impact and importance of digital learning.
