EVERFI Unveils New Higher-Ed Course Focused on Diversity and Inclusion

New Course Offering to Support College Campuses Educate Students on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Washington, D.C. – Today, EVERFI Inc., the leading education technology innovator, unveiled their newest higher education course offering, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Students.

“Too often campus diversity efforts focus on recruiting and enrolling students from a broad range of socio-economic, gender, and racial backgrounds, yet often overlook the structures and supports necessary to help all students thrive,”  said Craig Chanoff, EVERFI Higher Education President. “At EVERFI we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of all students by partnering with institutions to strengthen their commitment to creating diverse and inclusive campuses.”

EVERFI’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for Students course engages all learners–regardless of ability, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity–in creating respectful and inclusive campus communities. This 30-minute course introduces incoming and transfer students to key topics including:

  • Identity and Selfhood
  • Identity Transitions
  • Power, Privilege, and Oppression
  • Bias and Unconscious Bias
  • Respect
  • Allyship
  • Self-Care

By 2020, the US Department of Education estimates that the majority of college students will identify with one or more minority or historically underrepresented populations, according to the US Department of Education. At the same time, incidents of intolerance and hate crimes on campuses have increased 30% in the last 5 years, suggesting that a diverse student body is not necessarily an inclusive one.

When an institution embraces inclusive excellence as part of its educational mission it is more likely to close achievement gaps and improve retention, academic performance, and graduation rates among historically underrepresented populations.
