Week 1: Saving + Spending Responsibly

This week students will explore comparison-shopping methods and gain a better understanding of unit price calculations in a budget simulation. They'll learn to analyze whether information from sources are accurate and reliable when comparing products and services.

Week 2: Taking and Managing Risks

This week students will review how to build an effective business plan and pitch. They'll be asked to make a real-world connection by creating their own business plans, practice analyzing 2 different sample business pitches for effectiveness.

Week 3: Investing

This week students will review how to compare stocks, bonds, and mutual funds based on their typical risk and return levels. They'll put this knowledge to practice by reviewing stock information for various companies on the NYSE website.

Week 4: Careers + Higher Education

FutureSmart is a digital blended learning course for middle school students. Students follow a story-based narrative and complete interactive exercises, learning how to make real-life financial decisions and reach savings and career goals. FutureSmart teaches students the importance of thinking ahead and provides them with the financial literacy tools to be successful both now and in the future.
