Gene Riechers Named EverFi’s Vice Chairman

Washington, D.C. (November 19, 2012) – EverFi, Inc., the leading education technology company for critical skills, today named Gene Riechers as its Vice Chairman. In this newly created role, Riechers will help lead one of the fastest growing companies in the Education Technology sector. In addition to this executive role, he will also join the company’s board of directors.

Riechers spent the last 16 years as one of the Washington area’s most successful venture capitalists, most recently at Valhalla Partners, a firm he co-founded in 2002. Riechers’ notable record of returns led him to be named to AlwaysOn’s first Top 100 Venture Capitalists list in 2010. Prior to his venture capital career, Riechers was a senior executive at four technology companies, all of which went public.

“I’ve known Gene for over 15 years and have watched him develop some of the outstanding technology companies of our region,” said EverFi founder and CEO Tom Davidson. “His track record and pattern recognition skills are critical for us as we enter a phase of hyper-growth here. Gene has seen this game from every side of the ball as an operator, investor, and founder. We’re lucky and thrilled to have him as part of the EverFi team.”

Riechers is equally enthusiastic about his new endeavor. “I’ve been fortunate to have a fulfilling career in both technology companies and venture capital,” he commented. “While I did not plan to join another company in a full-time role, I just couldn’t pass on the chance to work with Tom and his team. To be sure, EverFi is an exciting high growth company. But what really sealed the deal for me is that they have a mission that truly matters: helping young people acquire the critical skills they need to be responsible, productive adults.”

In his new role at EverFi, Riechers will focus on major initiatives such as strategic planning, product and distribution growth, and team development. EverFi has raised over $22 million from New Enterprise Associates, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, Twitter Founder Evan Williams, Allen and Company and ReThink Education.
