EVERFI and the National Fitness Foundation are excited to announce the winners of the My Fitness Journey blog contest! The contest serves as the culmination of the My Fitness Journey pilot, which was launched in Fall 2017. My Fitness Journey is designed to empower elementary school students with the tools they need to make healthy and informed decisions on nutrition and fitness. It has reached more than 800 students in 29 schools across the country.

For the contest, the National Fitness Foundation wanted to hear how the My Fitness Journey students stay healthy and active outside of school. Entries were judged on quality, creativity, and relevance to the prompt.

The top three entries received a Fitbit Ac™ to help the students continue to reach their health and fitness goals. The classroom with the most entries was also awarded a prize: a $250 DonorsChoose.org gift card.

We are pleased to announce the three winners of this year’s My Fitness Journey student contest!

Erin K.

I am staying healthy outside of school by participating in girls basketball, GOTR, and swimming with my friends. I am also being healthy by only drinking water. I know these things make me healthy because theys things make me workout at least for 60 min. a day. Those are the activities I do outside of school.


Memphis S.

I stay healthy and active out of school by participating in aerial arts. Aerial arts keeps my body moving and I gain a lot of strength by pulling up my body on silks of trapeze. I also always make sure I’m drinking water during this so I stay hydrated and keep my body healthy.

Jayla H.

I go on the trampoline almost every day for about 1 hour. I also drink my moms smoothies and have a good and healthy breakfast. And I make sure I eat fruits and vegetables every day. Sometimes I do dance on Mondays.
