EVERFI explored the challenges around designing prevention efforts that recognize and support the unique needs of LGBT students. Our research uncovered that one of the main roadblocks to doing the best work possible in this area is a lack of college-specific data being collected on these students. The addition of sexual orientation and gender identity questions to the Haven survey has provided the data necessary to uncover helpful insights about health-related attitudes and behaviors of this often overlooked population. This presentation explores those insights and their implications for developing and incorporating LGBT-focused prevention efforts.
