CHICAGO (May 21, 2018) – Today EVERFI, Citadel and Citadel Securities announced the launch of MarketWorks, a bold digital learning course aimed at equipping high school students with an understanding of how markets work and the knowledge they need to make smart investment decisions.
Currently, two-thirds of young adults lack basic knowledge about investing. And, more than ever, smart investing is critical for achieving long-term financial security.
EVERFI is a leader in educational programming. “Every day, in schools across the country, EVERFI works with teachers and students harnessing the power of technology to teach critical life skills,” said EVERFI CEO, Tom Davidson. “Our partners at Citadel and Citadel Securities are deeply committed to ensuring students have access to educational opportunities that open doors to success. Understanding how markets work, how capital is formed, how marketplaces function, how companies and people access this is critical and almost entirely missing from the school day. We are very proud to partner with Citadel and Citadel Securities to empower students across Chicago and Dallas to bring these critical topics to the classroom.”
MarketWorks will be available to schools in the Greater Chicago Metro Area and neighboring counties, as well as schools in Dallas, TX, at no cost to the schools or taxpayers.
“As someone born and raised on the southwest side of Chicago, I am proud to play a part in giving high school students across the city access to educational opportunities that open pathways to success,” said Gerald Beeson, Citadel’s Chief Operating Officer. “MarketWorks is an innovative program that will provide students the knowledge and confidence to build and manage their savings over the course of their lives.”
MarketWorks will be available to schools starting in October 2018.
