EVERFI, Inc., the leading social impact education innovator, today announced the agenda and keynote speaker for the 12th annual Campus Prevention Network Summit. Taking place June 3-4 the conference has shifted to a virtual experience — with more than 400 registrants —  spanning two partial days due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Campus Prevention Network Summit brings together leaders in higher education from campuses and organizations around the country to share insights and best practices and to activate changemakers in the important work of addressing critical issues related to campus health and safety. This year’s agenda will feature several sessions that will address the impact of COVID-19 on colleges and universities and the new challenges institutions of higher education — and their staff, faculty, and students — are facing, including the release of new Title IX regulations.

The 2020 Campus Prevention Network Summit will open with a keynote from Chanel Miller, the author of Know My Name, a memoir informed by the events of her high-profile sexual assault case involving Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner in 2015. During her conversation at Summit, Miller will share her experience in seeking justice, her path to healing, and her journey to retaining authorship of her own story.

“The Campus Prevention Network has always been about bringing campus leaders together to discuss the most important issues affecting students and institutions,” said Rob Buelow, senior vice president of higher education and impact, EVERFI. “While campuses may look a bit different at the moment, hearing from people like Chanel Miller and the other experts who will speak at Summit will help us all create safer, healthier, more inclusive campuses for our students when they return.”

The Campus Prevention Network Summit will also feature a series of breakout sessions, plenaries, and opportunities to hear from subject-matter experts. This year’s event will also feature several discussions that are driven by the current state of affairs, including the following sessions:

  • Mental Well-being Plenary — The Disruption of Higher Education: How Mental Health and Wellness Can Re-define Its Value
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plenary — A Look Around the Corner: Leveraging Inclusive Excellence to Reimagine the Campus Experience
  • Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Misuse Plenary — A Matter of Principles: AOD Prevention In the Era of Social Distancing

“Institutions of higher education are facing unprecedented hardship and uncertainty driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, but we know that they are also committed to creating communities where students can flourish,” said Buelow. “Providing an opportunity for these schools to come together and discuss their challenges and successes, and learn from one another is critical, and we know that attendees will carry these conversations with them when they return to campus to further the critical work they are undertaking at their respective schools.”

EVERFI’s Campus Prevention Network provides tools, resources, and insights to help colleges and universities take on the most critical issues threatening campus health and wellness — including sexual and gender-based violence, alcohol and other drug misuse, mental well-being, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
