5 Keys to a Compassionate Classroom | Webinar
In a survey of 2,400 teachers, 44% expressed that their school places “too little emphasis” on developing students’ social-emotional skills. We know learning compassion increases students’ sense of well-being and improves the classroom environment for all learners – but simply put, it can be difficult to find both the time and quality lessons.
This webinar takes the guesswork out of compassion education, whether you’ve got 5 minutes to address the topic, or 50. Lauren Pingul, an EVERFI implementation manager, sat down with counselor Abby Pedano and teacher Rachael Joseph, to dig into what makes a successfully compassionate classroom and the free tools, activities, and resources available to support educators. They explored the five keys that make up a compassionate classroom and how you can address them organically as learning opportunities arise, through daily rituals, via dedicated lessons, and eventually, use them to shape your school and classroom culture.
The Compassion Project: EVERFI’s new SEL program, The Compassion Project, is the first comprehensive, no-cost program designed to promote compassion education and help educators facilitate lessons around fundamental SEL skills for students in grades 2-4, focusing on the complex but critical skill of compassion.
Implementation Guide: More than 100 pages of additional offline lessons, activities, suggested readings, and more. To download your full Compassion Project implementation guide, log in or set up your free account and click Resources.
