EverFi CEO Tom Davidson Honored with African-American Leaders for Education Efforts
Other Honorees include UNCF President Michael Lomax and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson
Washington, D.C. (July 15, 2015) – EverFi, Inc., the leader in critical skills education, today announced that its founder and CEO, Tom Davidson, has been honored with two joint resolutions commending his contributions to education by The World Conference of Mayors, The Alabama Conference of Black Mayors, The Historic Black Towns and Settlement Alliance, and the City of Tuskegee, Alabama.
Davidson was honored alongside distinguished African-American leaders including Dr. Michael Lomax, President and CEO of the United Negro College Fund, and the Honorable Kevin Johnson, Founding Past President of The African American Mayors Association, Former President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and Mayor of Sacramento, California.
The resolutions were adopted at the Salute to Historically Black Colleges and Universities Summitheld at Tuskegee University on Friday, July 10. The event recognized a new partnership between The Historic Black Towns and Settlements Alliance (HBTSA) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
“It is particularly meaningful to honor Mr. Davidson at this Summit because EverFi started its work in Tuskegee, Alabama and the surrounding communities,” said the Honorable Johnny Ford, Mayor of Tuskegee and co-host of the Summit. “We are thankful for Mr. Davidson and EverFi’s commitment to empowering students with critical African-American history education along with other important life skills.”
EverFi’s 306 – African-American History ™ course is one of the many digital learning programs that sponsors help provide to schools across the U.S. and Canada. Developed in collaboration with Dr. Clayborne Carson, Professor of History and Director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute at Stanford University, this new digital course brings to life many of the empowering stories of adversity, grit and determination that have shaped African-American history.
