Honor Code - Bullying Prevention

Bullying Prevention Curriculum for Middle School and High School Students

STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Relationships
  • Leadership
  • Resilience
  • Courage
  • Community

OVERVIEW

Empower students to become leaders in their school communities and prevent bullying with Honor Code, EVERFI’s bullying prevention curriculum. Honor Code takes a practical approach to bullying prevention by empowering students to create positive change in their school community, whether they’re engaging in bullying, on the receiving end of it, or witnessing it in their school.

Students are able to apply the social skills learned in each module by engaging in real life based scenarios that challenge them in areas of courage, leadership and resilience though the use of Honor Code's bullying prevention resources. Upon completion of the course, students have the opportunity to take their learning offline and into their school through a Capstone Project that puts their newly learned leadership skills into practice.

Interested in bringing Honor Code to your school? This engaging bullying curriculum is completely free to teachers and students.

Lesson 1 Lesson 2 Lesson 3 Lesson 4 Lesson 5 Lesson 6
Lesson 1

Relationships

Students learn how to identify the different types of bullying and the different ways that bullying can impact people. They also get the chance to explore their own interactions with others and reflect on how actions can have unexpected consequences.

Lesson 2

Leadership

Students explore the reasons why bullying happens and how they can be a part of the solution by treating themselves and others with respect. They also learn ways to break negative social norms and build positive norms.

Lesson 3

Resilience

Students first learn the underlying factors that often lead to bullying and then gain emotional management techniques to help them either stop bullying others or handle and prevent being victimized. They finish this lesson with the tools needed to improve the way they treat themselves and others.

Lesson 4

Courage

Students learn different techniques to stand up for themselves or others if they experience or witness bullying. They also spend some time reflecting on the meaning of courage, the importance of standing up for others, and how to maintain their own safety and gain self-efficacy.

Lesson 5

Community

Students explore community and why it matters, how to build strong connections with others, and why and how to value everyone’s individual strengths - including their own. Students also explore ways to become part of an inclusive team and how to resolve conflicts to avoid bullying.

Lesson 6

Capstone Project

Students use the results of a student-administered Anti-Bullying Survey that identifies problems related to bullying and exclusion specific to their school in an overall effort to create and implement an Action Plan to eliminate those problems.
