EVERFI, Inc., a leading social impact education innovator, today announced that its CEO and founder, Tom Davidson, will be awarded the Business Luminary Award on October 20 at the Halcyon Awards in Washington, D.C. The annual awards recognize and honor global pioneers in social enterprise who have created a movement, led an organization, and are making an impact in their communities.
“I’m incredibly proud and honored to be recognized for what our team has built,” said Davidson. “We’ve worked closely with education communities and leading organizations to build a powerful education network that’s extending critical learning opportunities to millions of students. Our team is passionate about community impact, and this award recognizes their incredible efforts.”
With more than 20 years of experience in education technology, Davidson is a transformative leader who is passionate about issues affecting the public sector, specifically education. It was his time spent serving in the Maine state legislature that eventually led him to establish EVERFI with an eye toward balancing the opportunities available to students in low- to moderate-income communities. Since its founding in 2008, EVERFI has grown to reach more than 7 million learners each year and is used in 25,000 public schools around the country, including the top 100 largest school districts in the country.
Under Davidson’s leadership, EVERFI raised more than $250 million of venture capital from the world’s leading institutions and technology leaders and has been the recipient of numerous business and leadership awards. Davidson also oversaw the company’s expansion beyond U.S. borders, first into Canada and then in 2019 into the United Kingdom through the acquisition of EdComs. In late 2021, EVERFI was acquired by Charleston, S.C.-based Blackbaud.
Davidson will attend the awards ceremony, along with 2022 awardees Metta World Peace for the Arts & Culture Icon Award and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for the Policy Visionary Award. The event raises money for Halcyon’s work accelerating the impact-driven future of business while giving the next generation of leaders and Halcyon’s community of supporters a chance to hear from and spend an evening alongside the awardees.
