Over the course of this two-week challenge, students will explore financial decision making on four topics: the importance of savings, savings for short-term goals, budgeting for medium-term goals, and investing for long-term goals

After completing the four lessons, students are invited to submit a short essay to showcase what they learned and how they will apply this new information in their own lives. Three winners will receive college scholarships in amounts up to $10,000, and their essays will be shared on the EVERFI Financial Bee website!



Students will answer the following prompt (in 300-500 words):

Share a short-term, medium-term, or long-term savings goal of yours. Outline how you plan to achieve this goal, and showcase what you learned from the EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee in your plan.



Three essay contest winners will receive a college scholarship as follows:

$10,000 Scholarship -- 1st Place Winner

$6,000 Scholarship -- 2nd Place Winner

$4,000 Scholarship -- 3rd Place Winner



Once you have completed all four lessons in the EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee, please reflect on what you have learned and submit your contest entry in the form provided in the course. Suggested length: 300 – 500 words. This scholarship contest is open to any U.S. or Canadian student between 13-18 years of age on April 1, 2021, who completes all five challenges in the National Financial Bee course. Entries must be submitted by April 15, 2021.



A committee of EVERFI judges will select the winners by May 15, 2021. Entries will be judged based on creativity, the content of the message, quality of writing, and demonstrated understanding of the financial concepts from the course. Three winners in total will be selected. With written approval, winning entries may be featured by EVERFI and their affiliates. Winners will each receive a 529 College Savings Scholarship.



To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be between 13-18 years of age on April 1, 2021. Winners in the United States will receive a 529 College Savings gift card. Students are able to use the gift card for any 529 College Savings Plan of their choice. For more information about the gift cards, visit Canadian winners will receive a contribution to a registered education savings plan (RESP) of their choosing. Please note that prizes will be awarded in United States dollars, regardless of where the student resides. Winners will be emailed an authorization form that a parent or guardian must complete and return within one week in order to receive the gift card. EVERFI and its affiliates shall have the right, title, and interest to use, market and otherwise own the content of the submitted contest entry to be used anonymously and with no personal identifiers. With written parental consent, EVERFI and its affiliates shall have the right to attribute the submitted contest entry to a student’s name.
