Washington, DC– The nation’s leading innovator in digital learning, EVERFI Inc., recognized  five institutions at the 10th Annual Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Summit in New Orleans, Louisiana, June 6-8, 2018. EVERFI honored the University of Michigan, Transylvania University, and the University of Richmond with the Prevention Excellence Award for their institutional commitment to adopting the highest standards in sexual assault prevention. EVERFI further recognized the University of Michigan, University of Dayton, and University of Delaware for their commitment to adopting the highest standards in alcohol abuse prevention.

“As campuses continue to strengthen and expand their work to address sexual assault and alcohol abuse, the Prevention Excellence Award winners exemplify the best practices on college campuses today,” said Rob Buelow, EVERFI Vice President of Prevention Education. “From their dedicated funding and staffing to comprehensive policies and innovative programming, these schools are working to build safer, healthier campus communities that enable students to thrive.”

All two- and four-year institutions in the Campus Prevention Network that completed either the Sexual Assault Diagnostic Inventory (SADI) or the Alcohol Diagnostic Inventory (ADI) — comprehensive, evidence-informed assessments of a school’s prevention programs and practices grounded in a decade of research on best practices in prevention — were eligible for the award.. EVERFI selected the recipients based on their SADI and ADI scores, interviews with campus professionals, and a careful review of each university’s accomplishments.

More than 200 colleges and universities have completed the SADI and ADI, and fewer than ten percent earned the Prevention Excellence Award distinction. As Buelow further noted, “These awards are particularly special because we don’t ask schools to compete against each other, but rather to commit to doing the best work possible in the core areas of institutionalization, critical processes and policies, and programming, and to measure themselves against the highest standards in the field.”
